¡Hola! my name is Fady. I have a BA in Communication and Organizational Leadership from Trinity International University in South Florida. I was born in the US, but I grew up and graduated from high school in the Dominican Republic, so my first language was Spanish. But more important than any professional accomplishment, is my passion for helping others to learn.

Upon graduating high school, I moved to South Florida and while attending college, I became a youth counselor with the Miami-Dade Government/Miami-Dade County Public Schools, an initiative directed towards at-risk youth ages for 14-21 and designed to keep youth safe and motivated.

As a counselor in these low-income areas, I had to wear many hats, and one of them was tutoring youngsters who had learning and social/behavioral challenges. For many of these minors, Spanish was their first language; therefore, writing, reading and English comprehension was challenging, so being bilingual was definitely a plus, as I could relate and meet them at their level, regardless of the language skills. I also collaborated with the local PTA and parents and constantly communicated best practice for teaching and to challenge their children proficiency. Very often I helped with parent/teacher conference, translating for Spanish-speaking parents who wanted to improve their children academics.

Later on, I was hired as a career mentor for students with disabilities at Miami-Dade College. On this position I also played many roles and often acted as substitute instructor and assisted with tutoring and class projects in various subjects. Tutoring these adult students was very rewarding because, regardless of their challenges, they were eager to learn and had a contagious positive attitude, which helped develop their confidence and knowledge.

Eventually, I discovered a passion for linguistics, so in 2003 I studied Interpreting and Translation at Florida International University in Miami. I became a free-lance interpreter and translator, an occupation I still perform today.

I'm a native Spanish Speaker. I am also a Spanish interpreter and translator, which gives me a especial advantage since I've been exposed to a variety of fields and subjects. I have also assisted children, teenagers and adults with their Spanish. On a personal note, I can proudly say that my son, who is only 8, is fully bilingual, including writing, reading and speaking Spanish.
