ACT Math

ACT Math

At Sylvan Learning Center, I tutor high school students weekly to prepare for the ACT. There are several different subjects involved in the math portion of the exam. The content breakdown for ACT math is Pre-Algebra (20-25%), Elementary Algebra (15-20%), Intermediate Algebra (15-20%), Coordinate Geometry (15-20%), Plane Geometry (20-25%), and Trigonometry (5-10%), each of which I have mastered while obtaining my degree in mathematics.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I am qualified to tutor this subject because while earning my math degree from UNT, Algebra I content is used throughout all math courses. In addition, I tutor Algebra I daily at Sylvan learning center. I have studied this topic for over 4 years and continually use it throughout my work.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra II is my my favorite math subject. I did well in this class in high school and continued to use Algebra II throughout my classes at UNT. I feel quite comfortable explaining this material to others.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

It is important for students to have a clear understanding of elementary math as it is the foundation for future math courses. I have had much teaching experience with this subject at Sylvan learning center. This is also a great time to use math manipulatives to explain this topic.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

At UNT, I was a teaching assistant for prealgebra and statistics. As a teaching assistant, I led classes twice a week and worked one on one with students to ensure they had a clear understanding of the content. Lastly, I also tutored a 7th grader for about a year in this subject and watch his grades steadily rise.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus was my first math class I took at UNT. After taking this class, I knew I wanted to major in mathematics. My confidence level increased and I found myself helping other students with their homework.
SAT Math

SAT Math

At Sylvan, I currently tutor students studying for the SAT. I particularly enjoy tutoring students in this subject because it is helping them prepare for college. In addition, I am qualified to teach this as I have an understanding of all the math topics involved in the SAT.

Wonderful Tutor

Katrina Is a lovely, patient, knowledgeable tutor that has greatly helped my son. We reached out to her for some assistance with algebra and precalculus work. She she was so accommodating and was able to look at some of his school work before we started this session. She walked him through all the steps and really helped him understand the processes. I know this will greatly him in his day-to-day classes as well as his tests. I highly recommend this tutor!

What a difference an excellent tutor makes!

I am so grateful for Katrina‘s help! I have been paying for a private one on one in person tutor for the past 7 months. I did not see any improvement in his math ability during that time. My son said normally he would only learn one concept per tutoring session. With Katrina he said they reviewed several concepts. He loved that and he is so excited to learn more!

Precalculus Tutoring

Katrina is a knowledgeable and effective precalculus tutor. She communicates clearly and takes the time to explain concepts in a way that is easy to understand. During sessions, she is patient, focused, and always willing to go over material more than once if needed. She checks in often to make sure everything is understood and encourages questions to ensure clarity. She’s made it easier to stay on track with the material and is super kind.

Katrina has been a wonderful resource and tutor for my daughter! She works problems with my daughter and explains things as they go along. She asks my daughter questions that help her to know if she is understanding the concept. Katrina helps with my daughter’s confidence and understanding about math. Great experience!!

3rd grade math

My daughter has been struggling with math this year and has lost her confidence as a student. Tutoring with Katrina has been great. My daughter is totally engaged with her. She feels that she understands math now! We are doing 1-2 a week with her because it’s been worth it.

Great tutor.

Katrina worked with my daughter on her Algebra 2. My daughter was so happy after as Katrina explained the math better than her high school teacher. We will be using her again soon.
