We've found several good tutors through Wyzant but have already "worn out" two tutors with the complexity of the subject matter. (Engineering Calculus 2) Both of the others were great but were having to spend ALOT of time prepping before lessons to make sure they were fresh on the topics. This caused too much of a demand on two tutors so here we were, looking for a 3rd tutor! Ping did NOT disappoint!!! He jumped right in and immediately got down to business with my son in a direct but very friendly manner. (He immediately put my son at ease.) Ping has a very effective way of explaining things to my son. Apparently, in Calculus, there are several ways to solve problems (Now THAT's confusing!)...but rather than complicating the session, Ping was very good at showing my son the "most direct" way to solve a problem. SOOO important!! He stepped through problems with my son and not only showed him how to do it, but he also explained the logic behind the process. This was extremely helpful. One truly unique and INVALUABLE thing that makes Ping exceptional is his ability to evaluate the needs of his pupil. He was able to quickly assess my son's competence level and identify some key areas that he needed to work on. This is unbelievably helpful to me because, having no background in Calculus, I could not pinpoint where my son was getting "caught up." Instead of just repeating the explanation again OR working through the problem a second time, Ping patiently backed up a little and helped work on some more basic concepts before moving ahead. I sent Ping a quick message sharing some of what I thought my son was struggling with and I was blown away by his intuitive, thoughtful responses. It was as if he had known my son for a long while instead of just having spent one lesson with him! Ping is more than a great tutor. Yes, he is EXTREMELY knowledgeable in Calc 2! More importantly, he has an extraordinary ability to "dig down" and identify the true needs of his student and the flexibility to change his approach on the fly to match his student's learning style!! Ping definitely goes the extra mile. We have already booked a 3rd lesson & will be booking more!!

Best calculus tutor
We are very happy to find Ping as my daughter’s tutor for her honor calculus. My daughter said he can just look at her class notes and point her to relevant practice problems within seconds. He gave clear explanations to concepts, and student is motivated to work. Highly recommended him!

There are tutors who says, "Ask me what you don't understand." However, most students don't even know what they don't know. A great tutor can find out the weakness of a student. Ping knows this. He will help you get an A.

Without any preparation, I sent him my current notes in hopes of learning what I missed. Ping knew exactly what they were about.
