I have a Bachelor's Degree in Art History and Visual Studies with a concentration in Curatorial studies and a Minor in Dance. I have a Masters Degree in Art History with a peer reviewed and published thesis, as well as a publication with the Smithsonian. I am a certified 7-12 Social Studies and English teacher, Advanced Placement US History and US Government teacher, and Gifted and Talented teacher. I have taught AP US History, AP US Government, World Geography, Texas History, and a combined AP US History and AP Language and Composition class. I have a 100% pass rate for the STARR test (Texas' testing program based off of the state curriculum standards). My average scores for the Advanced Placement tests for AP US History and AP US Government are a 4.2 (out of 5) with a 99% pass rate.
I have 4 years of teaching experience in a Texas public school focusing on 11th and 12th graders. Not only did I teach my students in class with custom made lessons, I also tutored them in content knowledge, writing skills, and testing strategies. I focus on inquiry based and discussion based learning, while giving a lot of focused and personalized feedback. I also teach different study methods, supply resources, and teach which strategies are most effective based off of the content or skills the student wants to focus on. Since my teaching has focused on upper classmen, I have a lot of experience tutoring on how to brainstorm and edit college essays. I have former students that are at some of the top colleges in the United States including: Yale, Stanford, Berkley, MIT, NYU, the University of Chicago, and the University of Texas.
I am a passionate educator who wants to help students gain critical thinking skills, understand complex ideas, and how to connect and utilize all of your knowledge and skills!
