Hello, I'm Avi, nice to meet you! I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a dual B.S. in Mathematics and Economics in 2025, where I also earned certificates in computer science and statistics. Afterwards, I completed my M.A. in Economics in 2026 at UT Austin as well. Throughout my educational journey, I found learning difficult course material and work on lengthy projects was far less stressful and much more enjoyable when in collaboration with friends and peers. Moreover, it amazed me when a teacher or peer could break down a complex homework solution to its logical foundation, and likewise, I developed a love for explaining core concepts from the ground up, even regularly volunteering at my local library's math tutoring nights. So, while I was an undergraduate student, I decided to become a peer tutor at the Sanger Learning Center, a free tutoring service provided by the university.

During my three years at Sanger, I tutored college students for over 20 different courses in statistics, calculus, beginner-to-intermediate economics, proof-based mathematics, and Python computer programming, both in one-to-one sessions and drop-in tutoring. I developed close relationships with my recurring tutees, adapting to their learning styles, goals, feelings about the course, and the tools they needed to succeed. Before the session, I would review the class content and create extra practice material, and I would prepare handwritten/typed session notes during for their future review. My goal is to avoid sole reliance on memorization by focusing on grasping the content in ways to build intuition and make problem solving feel less strenuous. I received the Outstanding Tutor Award from Sanger for my demonstrated commitment and high number of positive reviews.

I want to help my students as much as possible and welcome any suggestions to best serve your needs. I am excited for any opportunity to tackle high-school/college mathematics or economics, so please reach out with any questions or to book a session!

Approved Subjects

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

As a peer tutor at UT Austin's Sanger Learning Center for 3 years, I regularly worked with students on core Algebra II topics in both one-on-one sessions and drop-in tutoring, including quadratic and polynomial functions, conic sections, systems of equations, matrices, probability, exponential and logarithmic functions, complex numbers, and rational expressions. I also reinforced these foundational algebra skills while tutoring statistics and economics, where students often needed to refresh their algebra before tackling the more advanced material. I completed my B.S. in Mathematics from UT Austin in 2025 with a 3.98 major GPA, and excelled in Algebra II myself in high school (A+ in both semesters), giving me both the technical fluency and firsthand experience of where students commonly get stuck.
Calculus

Calculus

As a peer tutor at UT Austin's Sanger Learning Center for 3 years, I regularly worked with students on core Calculus I-III topics in both one-on-one sessions and drop-in tutoring, including limits, continuity, sequences and series, derivatives and applications, optimization, integration methods and applications, parametric and polar coordinates, partial derivatives, and higher-dimension integration. I also reinforced these foundational calculus skills while tutoring statistics and economics, where students often needed to refresh calculus before tackling the more advanced material. I completed my B.S. in Mathematics from UT Austin in 2025 with a 3.98 major GPA, and excelled in IB Calculus myself in high school (A+ in all four semesters), giving me both the technical fluency and firsthand experience of where students commonly get stuck.
Macroeconomics

Macroeconomics

As a peer tutor at UT Austin's Sanger Learning Center for 3 years, I regularly worked with economics students on core macroeconomics topics in both one-on-one sessions and drop-in tutoring, including comparative advantage, GDP, business cycles, inflation, AD/AS curves, fiscal policy, monetary theory, interest rates, Phillips curves, economic growth, and trade/exchange rates. Moreover, at UT Austin, I completed my M.A. in Economics in 2026 (4.0 GPA) and B.S. in Economics in 2025 (3.98 GPA), giving me both the technical fluency and firsthand experience of where students commonly get stuck.
Precalculus

Precalculus

As a peer tutor at UT Austin's Sanger Learning Center for 3 years, I regularly worked with students on core Precalculus topics in both one-on-one sessions and drop-in tutoring, including polynomials, rational functions, exponents/logarithms, trigonometry, polar functions, parametric functions, and matrix theory. I also reinforced these foundational precalculus concepts while tutoring calculus and statistics, where students often needed to refresh their knowledge before tackling the more advanced material. I completed my B.S. in Mathematics from UT Austin in 2025 with a 3.98 major GPA, and excelled in Precalculus myself in high school (A+ in both semesters), giving me both the technical fluency and firsthand experience of where students commonly get stuck.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have first hand experience with what it takes to score on math standardized testing: I scored a 770 on SAT Math section and a perfect 170 on GRE Math section. Moreover, I completed my B.S. in Mathematics from UT Austin in 2025 with a 3.98 major GPA. While I was enrolled there, I worked as a peer tutor at the university's learning center for 3 years, where I helped students with not only refreshing their Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics concepts but also sharpening their test taking skills: how to read questions effectively, how to use context clues and answer choices to derive the solutions, when specifically to use shortcuts, and how to pace yourself efficiently.
Statistics

Statistics

Serving as a peer tutor at UT Austin's Sanger Learning Center for 3 years, I regularly worked with math and economics students on core Statistics topics in both one-on-one sessions and drop-in tutoring, including set theory, probability, random variables, expected value/variance, probability distributions, Central Limit Theorem, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. I completed my B.S. in Applied Mathematics from UT Austin in 2025 with a 3.98 major GPA, where I took multiple courses in mathematical statistics, probability, modeling, and forecasting, giving me both the technical fluency and firsthand experience of where students commonly get stuck. I also have experience with tools like R, Stata, and pandas if necessary.
