Hey, I'm Justin, a CodeUp certified web developer, and an Amazon Web Services Certified Cloud Practitioner. I am a professional software engineer working in the financial industry, and I know that while learning software can be a challenge, it doesn’t have to be a daunting experience. I know that good instruction can be the difference between success and failure. I have over a year of experience tutoring students ranging from high school to undergraduate in frontend and backend development, as well as cloud computing and micro services. Specific languages include: SQL, Java, C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, as well as various frameworks and practical methodologies that are used most commonly in the field. I have tutored students on concepts as fundamental as boolean algebra, to concepts as advanced and specialized as Java inheritance patterns or ReactJS.

I focus much more on concept comprehension rather than fact memorization. Computer science by nature has a lot of abstract concepts that are difficult to grasp. I have found that the most surefire way for a student to understand the material is by making analogies that relate it to tangible, real world examples. The way that I approach a tutoring session is by first determining the students goals and their comprehension of the subject matter. Once I have an understanding of the student's particular needs, I then tailor a lesson plan accordingly. After working with my students, they have the confidence and knowledge to find the solutions on their own.
