Helping others grow and become their best selves is my mission in life. I am a former elementary school tutor, a former KidZone program director (pre-k through high school) and taught art classes out of my home for many years. I currently teach college level interpersonal communications/public speaking class two days per week in San Antonio. I have a master's degree is in business communications/entrepreneurship, and I focus on the importance of perfect-ING, versus perfect-ION. I also encourage my students to find what they are most passionate about and use that to teach from whenever possible. I believe no two students are the same and therefore no two classes should be taught alike. By making subjects relevant and interesting, I find 99% of my students end up passing with at least one grade higher than they anticipated, because I was able to get them out of their shell, get them to engage and think through the problems and processes, and do my best to make it fun.
My 28-year-old son (who is high functioning on the autism spectrum) is perhaps my greatest success. Some teachers said he would never make it in the real world but he had done remarkably well. He is currently a senior in college (just months away from graduation), is a certified IT specialist, purchased his own home last year, and is even in the early stages of starting a non-profit to help the wounded warriors. Working with him to keep him engaged has not always been easy, but the end results have been nothing short of a miracle!
