Hi! My name is Michaela. I graduated from the College of William and Mary with a B.S in Computational Applied and Mathematics with an emphasis in Mathematical Biology and over 9 years of experience tutoring Math and Science. Before I went to college I worked for the city of round rock for the adaptive camp, which is a summer camp for children with special needs. Those needs included but weren’t limited to ADHD, Autism, Downs Syndrome, and general learning disabilities. This helped me learn a lot of patience and understanding that not everyone learns the same. I wasn’t always a great math student, it wasn’t until my sophomore year when I took algebra II that I began to have that Ah-ha moment, and my goal is to help other students understand math and maybe even begin to see the beauty in it.

I have an extensive background in Math that comes from my Math-Bio degree,
I’ve taken Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Biostatistics, Quantitative Biology, Molecular Cell Biology, Laser Biomedicine, and Computational Neuroscience. Throughout my years in college, I have also been a math tutor for several years and try to use relatable examples to help students understand hard concepts. I have tutored students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Statistics, Calculus, Precalculus. Additionally, I've tutored middle and high school students in all subjects, but I specialize in STEM subjects.
My approach to tutoring is to work closely with students to help them understand hard concepts, and confidentially solve them. I help by going through the concepts first and using everyday concepts to clarify. Then I break down the concept into steps for the student to remember. Then I give the students practice problems to allow them to work on solving the problems on their own. I truly enjoy tutoring. The look on a student's face when they understand a topic makes the extra work worth it.

Please reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson! I look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Michaela

Great teacher, very patient and consistent

Can’t say enough about michaela. My son is severely autistic, his behavior always has been a problem in getting to find out his real abilities She is absolutely amazing , she doesn’t give up on him , very calm and consistent , she is almost the only one for a very long time who can spend 2 hours with him without complaining about everything . Instead she focuses on getting him over behaviors to show what he knows and participate ❤️ I appreciate her a lot and won’t give her up ever . I just hope there is many people like can see my son through his autism Thank you so much micheala for making that difference in our life

Thoughtful and knowledgeable tutor

Our son has been working with Michaela for 3 months now and the results have been fantastic! He is always so excited to have his lessons with her and there’s always a big smile on his face when it’s over. Our son is on the Autism spectrum and has always struggled with his speech, communication skills and social interaction. Now, his vocabulary and speech are greatly improved and he is more confident when he interacts with other people and we have noticed that is more nuance in the way that he talks to us and others. What Michaela has been able to accomplish in 3 months, his previous tutors couldn’t do in 3 years. She is an absolute Godsend which is why she gets my highest recommendation! If you want to see measurable results and proof of concept with your child’s learning and comprehension then look no further than Michaela.
