Hi, I'm Kelli!

I'm a PhD-trained biologist with nearly a decade of experience helping high school and college students master biology. I earned my doctorate in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics from Vanderbilt University, where I also completed a certification in College Teaching focused on evidence-based strategies for diverse learning styles and academic goals. Before that, I received my BS in Human Biology (concentration in pathogenesis and immunology) from UT Austin, where I taught and mentored other students through freshman interest groups, scientific immersion programs, and formal tutoring sessions for biology and chemistry courses.

My expertise spans the full spectrum of biology: AP Biology, college-level introductory courses, and advanced subjects (neurophysiology, genetics, biomedical systems, etc.). I also offer targeted help for students preparing for exams such as the MCAT and PCAT.

My teaching approach is interactive, strategic, and personalized to each student’s goals. For science majors, I emphasize deep conceptual understanding, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to connect complex topics to real-world biological systems relevant to their academic and career interests. For non-majors, I focus on efficiency and clarity - highlighting the most important takeaways from lectures, improving performance and confidence, and sparking as much interest in science as possible along the way.

Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I earned As in both undergraduate and doctoral-level biostatistics courses and have over 9 years of experience applying statistical methods to real biological datasets. My work spans hypothesis testing, regression models, ANOVA, and nonparametric analyses - used in both human clinical and molecular biology research. I guide students through both conceptual understanding and practical application, often using biological examples to illustrate abstract statistical principles. Whether you're working through coursework or analyzing your own data, I can help clarify and streamline your approach.
Genetics

Genetics

I hold a PhD in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, with extensive research and teaching experience in genetics at both the undergraduate and graduate level. My work has involved gene regulation, genetic mutations, and functional genomics, and I’ve mentored students through everything from Mendelian inheritance to complex molecular pathways. I’ve guest lectured on topics like neurogenetics and have supported students in courses ranging from introductory biology to advanced human genetics. I specialize in breaking down dense material into clear, actionable concepts that build confidence and long-term understanding.
Neuroscience

Neuroscience

I hold a PhD in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, with research experience in calcium signaling and endocrine-neuronal communication. I’ve guest lectured in undergraduate neurophysiology and have tutored students in topics ranging from ion channel dynamics to synaptic transmission. My approach integrates cellular and systems-level neuroscience, helping students bridge molecular mechanisms with behavior and function. I emphasize active learning strategies that build strong conceptual foundations for advanced coursework or exams.
