Hi! My name is Molly N. I graduated college with two Bachelors of Arts degrees: one in Spanish and one in Sociology. I realized through volunteer opportunities in college that being involved in the community is important to me. So, after college I signed up with AmeriCorps, a national volunteer program. I spent three years tutoring elementary aged students in early literacy skills such as phonemic awareness, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary in English and in Spanish. My time as a literacy tutor inspired me to become a certified teacher. I spent nearly a decade as a bilingual classroom teacher engaging students with interactive lesson plans in math, science, social studies, health, reading, and writing. My teaching style is energetic, engaging, and creative. I enjoy using music, movement, and art to learn.
Outside of the classroom setting, I tutored individual students in the English language, reading skills, and math skills. I conducted small group interventions for 2-6 students at a time, ensuring they mastered the skills taught. On top of small group sessions, I provided 1:1 tutoring for students needing extra support in reading comprehension and math problem solving skills.
Every student learns differently, which is what makes teaching and learning so fun! It is important to me to meet each learner where they are, build up their confidence, and see them succeed. I'm open and flexible to updated lessons, changing lesson styles, or using new programs if it benefits the learners I work with.
