Hello! I'm Melanie, an experienced educator with 19 years of teaching experience, including 9 years as a private school classroom teacher and 10 years of homeschool and co-op instruction. My teaching experience spans Kindergarten through 12th grade, giving me the opportunity to work with students at a wide range of ages, ability levels, and learning styles.
My areas of expertise include reading, writing, grammar, language arts, essay writing, and elementary through middle school math. I also have tutoring experience providing one-on-one support in foundational math skills, including multiplication, division, fractions, and other essential concepts that help students build a strong academic foundation.
One of my greatest strengths is finding the approach that helps learning click for each student. Every child learns differently, and I enjoy discovering the explanations, strategies, hands-on activities, or visual supports that help students connect with new concepts. I believe learning is most successful when students feel encouraged, understood, and capable.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with a wide range of learners, including students who needed additional academic support and students with unique learning needs. I have experience adapting instruction to meet individual learning styles and have successfully used specialized, research-based methods to help struggling readers develop foundational literacy skills. As a former lead classroom teacher, I have experience identifying learning gaps and helping students build the confidence and skills needed for long-term success.
My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students can ask questions, build confidence, and experience success.
