I have been teaching science since 2010 and have dedicated my career to helping students succeed in Biology and Environmental Science. I earned my degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Sam Houston State University and hold certification in Life Sciences for high school students. Over the past 16 years, I have taught in both public and private school settings, spending 13 years in public education and the past 3 years teaching at a private school. In addition to classroom teaching, I have tutored students for the Biology STAAR exam for more than 15 years, helping students strengthen their understanding of scientific concepts, improve test-taking strategies, and build confidence in their academic abilities.
Biology has always been a personal passion of mine, especially zoology and herpetology. Outside of the classroom, I have spent over 15 years running a successful educational YouTube channel focused on snakes and reptile education. Through these videos, I have taught thousands of viewers about snake identification, behavior, conservation, and safety in a way that is engaging and easy to understand. This experience has helped me develop strong communication skills and the ability to explain difficult scientific topics to learners of all ages and backgrounds.
My teaching style focuses on making science approachable, interactive, and relevant to real-world situations. I have experience teaching students in large classroom settings, small groups, and one-on-one tutoring environments. In my AP Environmental Science classes, my students have consistently performed at a high level, averaging a 4.33 on the AP exam. I believe successful tutoring comes from building strong relationships with students, adapting lessons to fit different learning styles, and creating an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves academically.
