K-3 Tutor seeking students who want to excel at learning!

Hi! My name is Jill R. I graduated from Angelo State University in 2004 in Early Childhood Education. I always enjoyed school and always had exceptional teachers. This led me to choosing a career in education. At 23, I began my teaching career in Ector County ISD. I taught third grade for 7 years in Odessa before Moving to Midland ISD. In Midland, I taught second grade for two years and taught third grade for two years. I then transferred back to Odessa and taught third grade for two and a half years. I love teaching my third graders but have been trained in all areas of K-3. During class and tutoring I love to bring a fun approach to learning. My goal is for all students to love and value their education. From experience, I know that interactive and exciting lessons help achieve that goal. I create a lesson calendar for my tutoring students based on skills that we need to work on. I then create a lesson plan before each tutoring session. This is a guide that will begin with an interactive teaching of the skill. We will then practice the skill together. Lastly, the student will have time to practice the skill on his/her own.

I have 13.5 years experience of tutoring both phonics and math. As a classroom teacher, I pulled students individually to tutor and also small groups of 3-5 students to tutor. I also held tutorials after school. I have tutored students who needed extra help with phonics and math and have also tutored students that wanted to excel in phonics and math. Throughout my 13.5 years of teaching, I have been to many trainings in both phonics and math.
