Algebra 1

I'm a senior at Rice University studying Electrical and Computer Engineering, a major built on calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra. All of these subjects rest directly on Algebra 1 foundations, and I use Algebra 1 every day in my coursework at Rice. I have six years of experience tutoring math one-on-one, along with classroom teaching experience with middle school students through Rice's ELITE Tech Camp.

Algebra 2

Elementary Math

I am a senior at Rice University with a strong foundation in mathematics and problem-solving. I currently tutor kindergarten students in one-on-one in counting, basic addition, and other foundational math skills. I also have classroom teaching experience with middle school students through Rice ELITE Tech as a live instructor for an engineering/robotics class.

Grammar

I am a senior at Rice University with experience helping a kindergarten student develop reading, spelling, pronunciation, and sentence-writing skills. I teach grammar through simple explanations and examples that show how words work together to form clear sentences. I have also taken several creative writing and literature courses at Rice, which have strengthened my understanding of sentence structure and written language. In addition, I am writing my own book and can help students improve their grammar in a patient and encouraging environment.

Handwriting

I currently tutor kindergarten students in foundational writing skills, including handwriting and writing complete sentences. I help make the writing process manageable by working through it slowly and providing patient, guided practice. My goal is to help young students write more clearly, confidently, and independently. My creative writing and literature coursework at Rice has also given me a strong appreciation for clear and effective written communication.

Linear Algebra

I'm a senior at Rice University studying Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in AI and Data Science, where linear algebra is the working language: matrix operations, linear independence, and eigenvectors underpin nearly every machine learning concept I study. Because I use this material constantly rather than having taken it once and moved on, I can connect abstract definitions to what they actually do. I focus on the concepts students most often find challenging: vector spaces and span, linear independence, matrix multiplication and inverses, determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and change of basis. I also have general teaching experience: I have six years of experience tutoring math one-on-one, along with classroom teaching experience with middle school students through Rice's ELITE Tech Camp.

Reading

I currently tutor a kindergarten student in reading, pronunciation, spelling, and sentence writing. I patiently help the student sound out words, recognize patterns, and become more confident while reading. I have taken several creative writing and literature courses at Rice University, which has given me a strong background in reading and analyzing written language. I adapt my explanations and practice activities to each student’s age, pace, and individual needs.

Spelling

I currently provide one-on-one spelling support to a kindergarten student as part of our reading and writing lessons. I help the student connect letters with their sounds, pronounce words clearly, recognize spelling patterns, and practice using words in sentences. I use repetition, patient correction, and guided practice to reinforce new skills. My literature and creative writing coursework at Rice has also strengthened my understanding of written language.

Vocabulary

I currently tutor a kindergarten student in reading, pronunciation, spelling, and sentence writing, all of which support vocabulary development. I help make unfamiliar words easier to understand by explaining their meanings in simple language and showing how they are used in sentences. My literature and creative writing courses at Rice have exposed me to a wide range of vocabulary and styles of expression. I focus on helping students understand, remember, pronounce, and confidently use new words.

Writing

I currently help a kindergarten student develop foundational writing skills, including spelling words and forming complete sentences. I guide the student through the writing process using clear examples, patient feedback, and step-by-step practice. I have taken several creative writing and literature courses at Rice University, which have strengthened my understanding of sentence structure, storytelling, and effective communication. I am also writing my own book and enjoy helping young students express their ideas clearly and creatively.
