UT Austin Undergrad Senior with Teaching Experience

I am currently a fourth year English major at the University of Texas at Austin. I have recently finished my hours with the UT UTeach program in Austin and will be receiving my ELA 7-12 Teaching Certificate upon the completion of my undergraduate degree next May. I am a teacher, a writer, and a passionate advocate for all of my students.

This past year, I had the pleasure of student teaching ELA and Honors ELA courses at various Austin high schools. When creating my own lesson plans, I took every given opportunity to expand the way my students viewed English literature and writing by incorporating media, current events, and self-led research projects into our studies. As a result, students felt empowered enough in their writing to take their learning into their own hands, many choosing to publish their class work to the masses.

I also have experience working with Breakthrough Austin, an Americorps summer program for the ambitious urban youth of Central Texas. As a Teaching Fellow for the program, I worked closely with high school students working to be the first in their families to go to college. Throughout the summer, I served as a freshman ELA teacher and guidance counselor for a small group of freshman students.

Outside of my love for teaching, I continue to feed my personal passion for writing regularly. For the past three years, I have consistently published for a major social media platform and am currently the Editor in Chief for my university's branch.

I love helping students recognize their potential by constantly challenging the limits they set for themselves. I truly believe that inside every person is a writer, and I work to the best of my abilities to help my students use their words as an asset towards successfully achieving their goals.
