I have been tutoring for about 6 years now in a multitude of courses. I went to a high school focused on STEM education and was a part of peer-assisted learning for physics, mechanics, and general chemistry there and loved helping others understand better. I recently graduated from Oklahoma State University with 3.5 years of tutoring campus wide and specifically with the college of engineering. With the university, I was able to tutor primarily in person with college ages students and older adults to enhance their understanding of chemistry, physics and mathematics. I also tutored online with the Oklahoma Department of Education for 7th-8th grade math, primarily algebra, in an online small group format.
I like to focus and work with the student in an active learning style. Being able to get the correct answer is good, but I believe enhancing understanding and critical thinking about the topic rather than regurgitating answers. I love when students are wrong, because that just gives opportunities for growth and development. My main purpose for tutoring is to help students, not to make money. I enjoy seeing others excel and improve throughout the time and become more confident in their abilities. Please contact me if you would like to have a consultation over any opportunities to work together!
