Hi, I’m Nivyan! I’m a Texas A&M alumnus with a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering and a Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering. I have 13+ years of tutoring experience helping high school, AP, and college students improve their understanding, confidence, and grades in math and science.

I specialize in helping students turn confusing math and science courses into structured, manageable systems. My goal is not just to help with one assignment or test, but to help students understand the material, recognize patterns, build stronger problem-solving habits, and become more confident independent learners.

At Texas A&M, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the first-year Chemistry program, where I led labs for General Chemistry II and Chemistry for Engineers. That experience taught me how to explain challenging concepts clearly to students with different backgrounds and levels of preparation.

My main areas include General Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, introductory college chemistry, high school physics, AP Physics 1, college physics, statistics, algebra, geometry, and precalculus. In chemistry, I help with stoichiometry, atomic structure, bonding, intermolecular forces, thermochemistry, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, electrochemistry, and lab concepts.

My tutoring style is patient, structured, and student-centered. I help students understand the “why” behind each concept, connect formulas to ideas, organize their work, and develop reliable systems they can apply on their own.

Each session is customized to the student’s needs, whether that means step-by-step explanations, focused test review, AP/college-level practice, or accountability to stay consistent. I adjust my pacing and practice based on the student’s course, goals, and upcoming assessments.

Wonderful, knowledgeable tutor!

Nivyan has been a lifesaver! My son suffers from ADHD and is NOT a science person. As such, he was completely overwhelmed when he started high school chemistry. Luckily, we found Nivyan on Wyzant. Nivyan has been a wonderful tutor and has helped my son immensely. He is really nice, very patient, very easy to talk to, and has a way of easily explaining even the most complicated concepts in an understandable way. He always responds promptly to emails and has worked with my son on a weekly basis for the entire academic year. He often goes above and beyond the call of duty by even fitting in last minute “emergency” sessions right before big tests or when my son has a confusing homework assignment. My son never would have made it through this year without his help, and I am so grateful for the tutoring he has provided.
