Hi, I’m Anjum! I am a passionate, dedicated and patient educator with over 10+ years’ experience as a Lead Primary Montessori teacher and personal tutor. My journey as an educator began in college when I was working towards my Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Math. I served as a tutor for those needing help in mathematics as well as computer science. I then earned my Masters in Elementary Education, engrossed myself into the Montessori philosophy of developing independent learners and became certified as a Montessori teacher for ages 3-6. I love working one-on-one with each child to cater to each child's unique developmental and academic needs to help them reach their highest potential.
As a personal tutor, I will help your child excel in these areas: phonics, handwriting, reading, and other KG subjects. We’ll utilize hands-on materials and traditional methods, and any materials provided by parents.
There’s a process in learning to read. Wherever your child is in the process, I can make them confident in their reading skills. At a high level, the process involves decoding words, building fluency, and developing comprehension skills.
Your child’s handwriting journey will end with them having neat and legible writing in both upper/lower-case print/cursive. As a Primary Montessori teacher, I prepare the children for 1st grade. There was a strong emphasis in forming letters and numbers correctly and neatly as this would become part of their hand muscle memory. I used hands-on materials as well as handwriting worksheets to benefit my students.
My Montessori experience has given me the opportunity to teach 3-6 years old from hearing and identifying sounds, making words and sentences, to full on reading. In teaching phonics, I start off by teaching the sounds of the letters, then move onto CVC words, consonant blends, digraphs, and long vowels.
I would love to set up an assessment and go from there!
