The curriculum is built on analysis and calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics, graph theory, combinatorics, formal logic and algorithm complexity, so my foundation across the school and early university curriculum is unusually deep.

I have worked as a professional software engineer for twelve years, currently as a senior engineer building distributed systems. I use the mathematics I want to teach in my daily work: algorithm design and complexity analysis, probability and statistical monitoring, and graph structures.

My teaching experience is professional rather than school based and spans those twelve years. I designed and ran a recurring pair-programming program for junior engineers, meeting one on one every other week, focused on how to reason toward a solution rather than on giving answers. I founded and led an internal lunch-and-learn series, choosing topics, preparing material and presenting to groups of mixed experience. I have also led teams of three to six engineers, onboarding people onto systems they had never touched. My approach is diagnostic: I find where the understanding actually broke, usually earlier than the assignment in front of us, and I ask questions rather than lecture.

I am seeking approval in mathematics from prealgebra through calculus, plus probability, statistics, discrete mathematics and linear algebra; in computer science for Java, Python, C, C++, Go, JavaScript and SQL, all languages I have written production code in; and in French, which I speak natively and was educated in through my master's degree. I am comfortable with middle school, high school and university students, online or in person around the Dallas area.

I hold an M.Sc. from Telecom Nancy, a French public engineering school entered by competitive mathematics examination, where the curriculum ran from analysis and linear algebra through probability, combinatorics and formal logic. The Algebra 2 syllabus (functions and transformations, logarithms and exponentials, polynomials and rational expressions, complex numbers, sequences and series) is the foundation everything I studied afterward was built on. In twelve years as a software engineer I use this material constantly, from exponential and logarithmic reasoning in algorithm complexity to systems of equations in optimization work. When I teach it I focus on why a method works rather than on memorizing steps, because students who understand the structure stop needing to memorize.

I hold an M.Sc. in Software Engineering from Telecom Nancy, a French public engineering school, where the computer science core covered algorithms and complexity, data structures, formal logic, graph theory, automata and operating systems. For the past twelve years I have worked as a professional software engineer, currently as a senior engineer designing distributed microservices in Go, and before that across large customer-facing platforms in Java, PHP, JavaScript and .NET. This means I can teach the theory a course requires and then show a student what it looks like in a real system, which is usually the part that makes it click. Much of my professional work has been teaching adjacent as well: I ran a one-on-one pair-programming program for junior engineers and founded an internal lunch-and-learn series, so explaining data structures and algorithmic thinking to someone encountering them for the first time is familiar ground.

I built and maintained web front ends professionally for over a decade, including several years running my own independent web development practice where I delivered sites and e-commerce platforms for clients end to end. In later roles I worked on large customer-facing interfaces using React, Angular and JavaScript, where CSS was part of the daily job rather than an afterthought. I teach CSS the way I had to learn it, by understanding the box model, the cascade and specificity, and how layout systems such as flexbox and grid actually resolve, rather than memorizing properties and nudging values until something looks right. Students generally find that once they can predict what the browser is going to do, the guesswork stops and the rest gets much easier.

I have worked with HTML professionally for more than a decade, beginning with an independent web development practice where I built and maintained sites and e-commerce platforms for clients end to end. In later roles I worked on large customer-facing interfaces built with React, Angular and JavaScript, and today I build Mailgun's Email Preview and Inspect platform, which parses and validates HTML at high volume for link integrity, image handling and accessibility. That last part means I spend my working days looking at how markup actually behaves across different environments, including the quiet ways it breaks. When I teach HTML I start with document structure and semantics rather than tag memorization, because students who understand why an element exists write markup that is accessible and maintainable without having to be told to.
PHP

PHP

I have written PHP professionally across several companies and more than a decade. At Rocket Mortgage I sat on the senior architect team for a large customer-facing platform built in PHP alongside JavaScript and .NET, and at Workforce Software I modernized a product interface using PHP together with GraphQL, Kafka and React. Earlier I ran an independent web development practice, building and maintaining high-availability LAMP systems and e-commerce sites for clients end to end, so I have seen PHP from small first projects through to production systems under real load. I can teach the language itself, the surrounding pieces students usually get stuck on such as databases, request handling and debugging, and the habits that make code maintainable rather than merely working.
