Welcome! My name is teacher Clarissa G. and I have a Bachelor's degree in English, Philosophy, and Biology. I have taught for 4 years now, and I love everything about teaching! Before I started my teaching career, I tutored in Writing and English Literature at a local school district for 3 years. I met different students and their willingness to learn and to continue striving forward towards success captivated my young teaching soul. I knew that the "Aha!" moments were priceless because seeing someone pierce through their self-limitations or their obstacles is an opportunity for growth. I have also tutored students in Elementary, Middle School, and High School in Philosophy, with a program called P4C (Philosophy for Children) in which critical thinking skills were taught, and discussions were facilitated for the exchange of ideas and concepts. Students loved learning Philosophy, and I realized I loved to teach it! I have written over 50 philosophical essays and went to Paris in 2019 to give a public seminar on Latin American History and Psychology Studies. As a trained philosopher, I realize the importance of critical thinking, discussion, and writing to understand and comprehend abstract thinking and material. Socrates said once, "The unexamined life is not worth living..." So, curiosity and wonderment will always lead to knowledge and wisdom.
When I am not tutoring, I love spending time outdoors; hiking, walking, and practicing yoga. I also paint on my free time and write. I am currently writing a book on Carl Jung's methods of Psychotherapy. I love to spend time with my cat Montaigne (who is named after my favorite philosopher, Michel de Montaigne). I can't wait to meet you.
I am passionate about the world of the sciences and have had experience in these subjects for over 5 years. As a kid I was heavily engaged in scientific thinking and worked my way up from biology to psychology to better understand human behavior and thinking. Studying philosophy during undergrad taught me the wide context of history
