When I was a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, I worked as an assistant instructor teaching Spanish in the Spanish and Portuguese Department. To be accepted in this work I had to take a preparatory course. From that course one thing was recorded: that the student has to be in a comfortable, relaxed and pleasant environment to learn a language.
In my classes I try to use that kind of learning techniques that keep the student interested and entertained. I use popular songs, movie segments, YouTube clips, newspaper news and all kinds of convenient resources to enhance the reinforcement of the grammatical concepts that I explain.
In addition to teaching I have experience in the creation of exercises and exams to check the progress of the students' learning process.
I have also worked in the media. Before coming to the United States, I worked for several local newspapers’ cultural supplements in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. In the United States I worked as proofreader and contributor to the cultural supplement Comentarios at the Spanish newspaper La Opinion in Los Angeles, California. In Texas, I worked in the Spanish newspapers: El Nuevo Heraldo, La Frontera and Rumbo del Valle. I also continue writing for several Mexican cultural magazines. "Vuelo" is one of them.
I am the author of the volume of fiction short stories, which has been published for three editions, and of a historical novel. My journalistic chronicles and my fiction short stories have appeared in several literary anthologies. Articles and interviews on my literary career can seen upon request.
I have a Law degree by the Autonomous University of Nuevo León. I am a certified Spanish Language and Literature Secondary School Teacher by the State Su
