I am a graduate of the University of New Mexico, where I received my Masters of Science in Mathematics, the first half of which focused on Pure Math (I liked Group Theory, Number Theory, and Topology a lot), and the second half focused on Applied Math (Complex Analysis being my favorite of that set). Since graduation, I have mostly worked as a college professor. I stepped back from full-time teaching to have a more flexible schedule. I tutor all levels of mathematics, specializing in College Algebra, Introductory Statistics and Probability, Trigonometry, and Precalculus (as well as Calculus for select students).

My experience with students has varied with my institution of employment. When I was at University, I really enjoyed helping Engineering students get out of their Calculus classes and into their respective programs, because I could relate to their passion and was able to help them get over common stumbling blocks.

My time at Community College was very different, where I encountered students struggling to get their basic credits out of the way just so they could go on into a non-technical field. In that situation, I was able to meet the students where they were at and help them to develop an appreciation for mathematics that they might not have had previously. I believe that knowledge is power, and a key to unlocking your true potential.

I have a way of explaining mathematics so that it "just makes sense". Many of my clients say that I make much more sense than their instructor does during lecture. I do my best to explain the concepts and solutions in terms that the students can understand.
