Teaching and sharing information is my passion. It's my goal to ensure that you know not only understand the information, but to comprehend why it is important!

Students often ask, "when will I use this?" The answer should be "every day!" All fields of Social Studies join together to create a cohesive understanding of the world and the way it functions. The study of history provides narrative interpretations of how the past has shaped the world we know today. World Geography goes a step further by explaining the historical boundaries and the cultural identities within them. Government enables students to be engaged in the American political landscapes of their state and nation. The study of economics introduces students to fiscal responsibility and money management. Clearly the phrase “social studies” can cover a significant range of pertinent educational material.

I believe it is my job as an educator to make learning fun and creative. Music I feel is the best way to this! Creating songs and rhymes to help retain historical information as well as using songs from folk repertoires to explain concepts will help students recall information in time of need. The ability to identify songs and know what happened when is a unique and effective way to approach the subject of Social Studies as a whole.

As a field of academic study Social Studies engages the students in real world situations and makes them aware of the world around them. It expands their perspective of the world and encourages them to become more aware as citizens. It also enhances writing and research skills as they individually research events and ideas that affected and influenced nations and cultures. These skills are essential to the job market that these students will be faced with.

As an educator, it is my job to mentor my students to think critically about the world around them. I want to ensure that the information taught is retained for a lifetime. My goal is to ensure that when a student leaves my class they will have a better understanding of where they came from and the world they inhabit. I believe all this can be achieved with an interdisciplinary study of the social studies within a warm and nurturing classroom environment.

Musicology has been a passion of mine for a while. Understanding the cultural contexts that music is composed in is crucial to understanding the composer and his or her music. Much like my philosophy with Social Studies, Music History is important to understanding the world of Music as a cohesive unit.

If you want an effective and creative learning environment full of music, I would suggest being tutored by me! Self expression and creativity are key attributes that all students have locked within them. It's my job to be the key to unlock that creativity and apply it to the subject at hand!

I have passed my TExES Teacher Certification test in composite History 7-12. I am now looking to share my passion for Social Studies with students around my area and around the world.
