I having spent many years in both industry and academia and can offer students a realistic view of science. For more than 20 years I have been teaching undergraduate biology and chemistry. I have held teaching position primarily and community colleges ranging from instructor and academic advisor up through program director and department chairperson. I am experienced in teaching general chemistry and organic chemistry to science majors. I also taught allied health biochemistry, physical science, and transitional biology. Additionally, I taught general biology, zoology, environmental chemistry, and environmental science.
My six plus years of industrial chemistry covers the spectrum from R&D to process chemist to QC to environmental. These experiences have challenged and improved my abilities in organic, polymer, physical, and analytical chemistry. As a part of my time in industry was significant use of product scale-up, statistics, experimental controls, and experimental design. I also spent 3 years as post-doctoral research fellow in pathology at a medical school.
My many years of undergraduate teaching make me tuned-in to how college science classes work and the level of student preparation needed to be successful.
