I have been a certified teacher in Texas for ten years and strive for excellence in science and math education. With a Masters in Education and additional degrees in Biochemistry, Spanish from Texas Tech University, as well as a Texas Educational Certifications for Composite Science (7-12), and English as a Second Language Education (ESL) I've been teaching and tutoring high school students to be the best scholars they can be.
In my time in the classroom, I have taught Academic, Pre-AP and AP courses in both Chemistry and Physics along with additional years teaching courses in Aquatic Science and Environmental Sciences. Education in physics and chemistry require as much talent in math education as it does science education and to that end I promise to be a patient and understanding instructor working to build your skills in both math and science.
What I love about teaching science are the moments when a student begins to understand a topic and is to take the first steps forward towards solving a problem. It is seeing my students' sense of accomplishment and pride come through after they are able to overcome a challenge. It reminds me of a toddler that is learning to walk. I takes a few failed attempts to get to those first steps and many missteps will still follow, but you are able to feel the growing confidence as a student navigates the twists and turns of learning something new.

My approach in the classroom mirrors my tutoring methods in that I believe in a problem-based, real world approach. Practice problems and real world connections are the key to success in physics and chemistry and as such I try to provide connections to real life so that students not only learn the material but are able to further apply that material to understanding how their world actually works.

Chemistry and Physics can be tough subjects but practice truly can make these concepts easy. Feel free to contact me if there is anything else you would like to know or to schedule a lesson. Looking forward to working with you.
