Hello, I'm Dianne, a language professional who has returned to her first love (tutoring). My 25 years of experience include being a language tutor, teacher trainer, proofreader, translator, editor, copy-editor, and published author.

Over the years, I've prepared several students to live abroad and thrive in their new countries. I know the ins and outs of living abroad and am an international transition coach who trains clients on how to be successful in English or Spanish-speaking countries.

Thus, I'm the kind of tutor that doesn't like to waste your time or money. I get directly to the point quickly after diagnosing what your needs are. Like a doctor who gives you a prescription, we begin to combat those "illnesses", plan a personalized program based on how you learn, then work until you achieve your goals.

If your communication skills need some polishing or if you're interested in learning those skills, I'm here to help you make sense of it all!

More: I've tutored in Argentina, the USA, and Mexico so far, working with Argentines, French, Spaniards, Dutch, Arabs, Brazilians, Asians (Korean and Chinese), Russian, Ukraine, and others living in the USA who need help improving their communication skills in Speaking (especially Pronunciation and Accent Reduction), Listening, Reading, Grammar, Writing and Exam Preparation.

When it comes to Writing, this is what to expect: My students learn grammar, get homework every session, participate in live editing with me, and learn how to construct clear emails and essays, among other skills such as creative writing. I've helped university professors get published and employees get promoted in their companies.

But don't take my word for it; check out my reviews of what my students say! Those speak volumes.

My hobbies are traveling around the world, learning Portuguese, playing tennis, as well as writing about the places I go to with my family.

I'd love to work with you!

25 years teaching English/ESL (Accent Reduction, Pronunciation, Speaking, Grammar, Reading, and Writing). I started out teaching English in Buenos Aires, Argentina where I lived for almost 18 years. I taught all kinds of international populations from around the world, such as Spanish and Portuguese speakers, French, other Europeans, Asians (Korean and Chinese) Ukrainians, and Middle Easterners, among others. I know how to give a diagnosis on the English language learner and how to combat those "illnesses". Thus, I've become the "go-to" tutor for pronunciation. And because I'm a published author, professional editor, and proofreader, I'm a good choice for helping with Writing and Grammar.
Grammar,

Grammar

I can help you diagnosis what's going on with your grammar and correct your "illnesses", combating them with special exercises and activities (even games sometimes) to help you remember when to use each tense, adjective, and much, much more. The problem isn't doing them in exercises, it's when you need to use them in real life! That's what I do best, so you'll be in great hands with me.
Proofreading,

Proofreading

25 years proofreading and editing for law firms, authors, companies, and individuals. I'm kind of a grammar nazi when it comes to correcting typos, grammar issues, and re-writing texts. I'm also a published author, so your text will be in great hands with me.

Super patient Spanish tutor with 21 years in Latin America (Argentina - 18 years and Mexico - almost 3 years), and have also spent time in Colombia and Cuba. I teach with dynamic resources, music, and games to make it fun for the student. Please read my reviews as a Spanish tutor, as my students have been so happy (feliz) with me (conmigo)!

How did you learn to read as a child? Most likely it was because you were read to by your family, caretakers, or teachers. It's no different now, and the way I teach is similar in many ways. I read to you and you repeat it, trying to imitate the pronunciation, intonation, and word patterns as best you can. We finish the reading passage and you tell me what you understood from what we read and identify the words you don't understand. In other words, you learn in a natural way, just like a child. You'll gain confidence, get more fluent in your reading, and get better. I'm an encouraging and caring tutor who'll make you look forward to our sessions and stay engaged.

Knowledgeable, Patient and active tutor

Dianne is a very good tutor. She is very patient with kids. My daughter loves the class and she thinks the class is very helpful in improving her reading and writing skills. This is the only class my daughter is interested and ready to go without reminder. So happy to find a tutor like Dianne.

Swetha, 9 lessons with Dianne
Tutor responded:

Knowing that your daughter looks forward to her classes with me is what I live for and why I went into tutoring in the first place. Your feedback is very appreciated!

Patient and very knowledgeable

Our son had such anxiety completing his AP English essay, we could not help him making us all feel the stress. Dianne came in and not only helped him organize his thoughts but gave him the confidence to complete the task. We are so happy we reached out and got the experienced tutor he desperately needed.

Tina, 2 lessons with Dianne
Tutor responded:

Thank you so much for this feedback, Tina! Your son is so capable, but he just needed some guidance. I'm glad I've been able to help him and it's a true pleasure to work with him. Moreover, I'm so happy we get to work on a regular basis and bring out that trapped potential that wants to get out!

great tutor

Helped my daughter who is in language immersion in 7th grade understand and answer questions on an in depth spanish reading assignment. My daughter really enjoyed and learned

Alissa, 1 lesson with Dianne
Tutor responded:

Thank you so much, Alissa. Her assignment for Spanish immersion at school was set at a very high level. I was so impressed by your daughter's level of Spanish that included excellent comprehension and pronunciation which is hard to find at her age (12). Please know that I'm happy to help whenever it's needed.

Knowledgeable and kind tutor

Dianne has helped me improve my Spanish vocabulary, and study for upcoming Spanish tests. I needed help memorizing vocabulary and learning how to create sentences with the words. Dianne was able to assist with both which improved my Spanish skills greatly. She also teaches subjects thoroughly so that one can understand it completely.
