How did you learn to read as a child? Most likely it was because you were read to by your family, caretakers, or teachers. It's no different now, and the way I teach is similar in many ways. I read to you and you repeat it, trying to imitate the pronunciation, intonation, and word patterns as best you can. We finish the reading passage and you tell me what you understood from what we read and identify the words you don't understand. In other words, you learn in a natural way, just like a child. You'll gain confidence, get more fluent in your reading, and get better. I'm an encouraging and caring tutor who'll make you look forward to our sessions and stay engaged.

Learn naturally with a bilingual gringa (American) who's lived almost half her life (22 years) in Latin America (Argentina and Mexico) and who has been a professional translator, language interpreter, and tour guide in Mexico. I'm not a native speaker of Spanish, but I'm pretty close since I've learned how to navigate life in Latin America starting from not knowing much at all to becoming fully fluent and conversational. I can teach anything from beginner Spanish to conversational levels, teach you verb conjugations, vocabulary, and good pronunciation in a way that you'll learn quickly and increase your love of the Spanish language and culture, just like I have. ¡Me encanta el idioma español!

If you want to learn Spanish, Dianne is the best tutor there is hands down!

I began lessons with Dianne a little over 2 months ago and I am so excited to have hit the jackpot of tutors! She is absolutely everything I was hoping for and more. I took 2 years of Spanish in high school over two decades ago, so I didn't really know where I fell on the spectrum of beginners. Dianne has been amazing at going through all the fundamentals and pinpointing my strengths and weaknesses. She is so warm and kind and makes me so comfortable when attempting new phrases and vocabulary. The way she engages is fun and encouraging and makes you WANT to speak Spanish! Dianne is a big stickler for pronunciation, and I am so grateful for that! I eventually want to be able to speak Spanish out in the world and don't want people to be unable to understand what I'm saying. What would be the point of learning Spanish then?! She is a wealth of knowledge and brings more than just vocabulary. She provides an understanding of different Spanish speaking cultures and accent differences that I think the typical Spanish tutor either glosses over or simply doesn't posses. I could go on for days but I will end by saying the best part of my week is my lesson with Dianne. She is simply the best Spanish tutor there is, and I feel very lucky to have her mentorship in my Spanish language journey. Gracias Dianne por todo!

A great conversation

Today we talked more about using the subjunctive in Spanish. I asked about the use of might and may. I make a lot of mistakes, but she is very patient. I am retired and as I said she is very patient. I feel relaxed and comfortable with her. I look forward to our time together.

Wet knowlego, enthusiastic and patient tutor

Diane is an excellent tutor. She works with my elementary school age son weekly. She is able to keep him interested and engaged for the entire session. His Spanish grades and most importantly confidence have improved dramatically since very he began working with her a few months ago. I plan to visit Argentina in the near future. Dianne provided interesting and helpful Spanish language websites with information regarding Argentine culture, food and transportation. This way she hit two birds with one stone: I learned about Argentina and I practiced Spanish with her helpful hints and corrections.
