I have been an Early Childhood Educator for 15 years. I am Bilingually certified and hold a Texas Educator Certificate. I have taught pre-k thru 3rd grades. Emphasizing on kindergarten. I have also worked with both local school districts and with Corpus Christi ISD. Tutoring Reading for Kinder -2nd grade.
I like using hands on materials. I find it helps children of all learning styles adapt to learning skills and builds self efficiency as well as other lifelong skills.
There is no better way to demonstrate or model than to use hands on materials or real life situational material. For example our environment is a great classroom for science-based lessons. One can learn a lot by observation alone.
Finding fun, such as card games tailored to specific skills are ways to present lessons that motivate students to participate and remain engaged. All the while having fun learning thru interaction and strategy.
I believe that the students learn by active participation which is mainly student centered. Unconventional methods such as games and one to one strategic interactions help with lifelong learning skills.
