Hi everyone, my name is Evelyn! I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology from UC San Diego (Go Tritons!) and went on to complete a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Kansas City University. My graduate coursework mirrored the first year of medical school and included advanced subjects such as anatomy, physiology, immunology, and biochemistry. This rigorous training gave me a strong understanding of the concepts that often challenge students in introductory biology courses.
As a first-generation high school and college graduate in both my immediate and extended family, I understand how valuable it is to have a tutor who teaches with patience, encouragement, and relatable examples. I believe learning should feel engaging rather than intimidating. I'm naturally bubbly and enjoy creating a welcoming, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence.
I have experience providing one-on-one tutoring as well as leading study groups throughout both my undergraduate and graduate education. I've helped students in subjects including General Biology, Human Biology, Immunology, Anatomy, and Physiology. I'm happy to explain concepts in multiple ways and as many times as needed because every student learns differently and I believe it should be tailored to fit each students individual learning style.
My goal isn't just to help students memorize information, it is to help them truly understand it. Together, we'll connect concepts, strengthen critical thinking skills, and learn how to apply knowledge to exams instead of relying on memorization. I also enjoy teaching effective study strategies so students can become more confident and independent learners throughout college.
Whether you're taking your first college biology course, preparing for an exam, or pursuing a pre-health career, I'd love to help you build a strong foundation and achieve your academic goals!
