Hello! My name is Ms. Thesen, and I am a certified Elementary Special Education Teacher with four years of experience teaching in a self-contained Life Skills classroom. Throughout my career, I have worked with elementary-aged students with a wide range of learning styles, abilities, and support needs. I have extensive experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, Intellectual Disabilities, and Developmental Delays. These experiences have helped me develop a patient, individualized approach that focuses on building confidence, independence, and academic growth while meeting each student where they are.
I earned my teaching certification through the Texas Teachers Alternative Certification Program and hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Lycoming College. My background in psychology, combined with my classroom experience, allows me to understand not only academic needs but also the social, emotional, and behavioral factors that can impact learning. I believe every student can be successful when instruction is tailored to their unique strengths and learning style.
As a tutor, my goal is to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as learners. Whether your child needs help with reading, math, study skills, building routines, or increasing confidence, I will work to provide engaging and personalized instruction that helps them make meaningful progress and reach their full potential.
