My educational and professional background includes two Master of Science degrees in the Natural Sciences and four professional credentials. In the past, I have taught classes in college and have been a volunteer tutor at a city school.
My tutoring approach is focused around comprehensive understanding rather than just memorization. For the long-term benefit of the student, it is not only about knowing facts and numbers, but grasping the underlying reasons and logic. In my classes, I emphasize providing the student with the necessary foundation to become self-sufficient in terms of critical thinking, problem solving, and developing their own methodology on ‘learning to learn’. I do this by offering up different approaches to the question at hand and by discussing possible explanations through applicable examples. I am preparing the student to develop the mindset and foundation to grasp the concept and approach of problem solving, and to prepare them to applying the learned to new situations and problems.
