Motivating Tutor Focused on Building Skill and Confidence

I’m a recent Spelman College graduate with a B.A. in Political Science and a strong background in writing, reading comprehension, and communication. My academic training required consistent analytical reading, persuasive writing, and research-based argumentation — skills I’ve refined through both coursework and my professional experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant at a law firm. In that role, I draft formal documents, edit legal correspondence, and proofread case materials daily, which has strengthened my attention to detail and ability to make complex language clear and accessible.

I began tutoring in college, helping peers and local high school students with essay writing, reading comprehension, and introductory Spanish. I discovered that my best results came from meeting students where they are — identifying their learning style, building confidence first, and then layering in structure and strategy. Whether we’re improving grammar, reading fluency, or essay flow, I focus on clarity and confidence as much as correctness.

For adult learners, I take a patient, conversational approach that keeps lessons practical and encouraging. We work with real-world examples — articles, short stories, or professional writing samples — to make sure the material feels relevant. My goal is to help each student not only improve their English or reading skills, but also feel more empowered in how they express themselves. I also offer introductory and conversational Spanish tutoring and bring an engaging, supportive atmosphere to every session.
