I have been tutoring middle school math for the past 5 years. I believe that all students can improve their math scores and grasp difficult concepts, it just frequently requires a different approach than a lot of math teachers use. As someone who struggled in math, I approach teaching it in a different way. I use common sense, the shortest and simplest way to achieve the correct answer and require students to show enough work that I can follow the thought process. If you can’t show your work we can’t figure out where mistakes were made! I look forward to hearing from you and seeing if we can work well together!
Outside the box thinking when it comes to math teaching. Being able to make math relatable to every day life and why it’s important. Not being a stickler for “do it this way” rules.
I am an excellent writer and can help refine and polish your writing skills. As a history major in college, one does a ton of writing. I was one class away from having a minor in English. I can help you understand how words work together for both reading and writing. Shore up test taking strategies and hopefully help you find a love for reading.
History is my passion. My degree is in European history and WWII is my favorite time period to teach. I was the department head for sixth grade social studies for 5 years, which is world cultures, this incorporates history, culture, geography, economics, and politics. I find it amazing when students can make connections between past events and current events or find commonalities with people who live on the other side of the world.
I am very easy going, personable and believe that a successful teacher develops a trusting and caring relationship with her students. I expect students to put in the effort to achieve their goals and will help you to reach those goals.
