I have been a high school history teacher for over 30 years. My specialty areas are U.S. History and Military History. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. My travels in Europe have all been related to WW II and the Cold War. I have traveled to 44 of the 50 states.
In addition to teaching U.S. History, I have taught Government and World History. I currently teach two electives in Military History on alternating years (History of WW II on even numbered school years, i.e. 2014-15 and History of the Cold War/Vietnam Conflict on odd numbered school years, i.e. 2015-16). I am a certified teacher in the state of Texas and have won awards for Excellence in Teaching.
I have traveled to many of the locations where important events in American History have taken place. It is always my goal to make connections between past events in American history and the events of today.
My goal is for each student to become self-sufficient and not need my help. Learning is the name of the game! Learning how to learn is the best approach to winning that game.
Students need to take ownership of their learning. This means taking ownership of their learning process and having autonomy as a student.
