I am a high school English teacher in Katy ISD with nearly two decades of experience teaching a range of courses, including AP Seminar and AP Language. Over the years, I have worked with students across middle and high school to strengthen reading comprehension, analytical thinking, and academic writing. I have extensive experience helping students prepare for SAT and ACT reading and writing, as well as guiding them through essays ranging from literary analysis to research-based argumentation. My classroom background allows me to understand exactly what teachers and standardized tests are looking for, and I bring that insight directly into my tutoring.
My approach to tutoring is structured, practical, and highly individualized. I focus on helping students organize their thinking, develop clear and defensible arguments, and write with precision and confidence. Rather than simply correcting work, I teach students how to improve by modeling strong thinking, breaking down complex skills, and providing targeted feedback they can immediately apply. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions while also being challenged to grow. Ultimately, my goal is not only to improve grades and test scores, but to help students become more confident, independent thinkers and writers.
