I’m Andy, and I graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Astrophysics, where I developed a strong passion for both problem-solving and teaching. Throughout college, I found that the classes I enjoyed most were the ones where complex ideas were explained clearly and intuitively, and I try to bring that same approach to my tutoring. My goal is always to help students truly understand the material, not just memorize steps.
I have over three years of experience teaching and mentoring students through physics and astronomy clubs and peer-led workshops, working with 40+ students in total. I regularly taught groups of 8–15 students, including focused instruction for around 10 eleventh-grade students following the full AP Physics C Mechanics and E&M curriculum. Topics I’ve taught include algebra-based and calculus-based physics, electromagnetism, introductory programming, and problem-solving strategies for competition and exam prep.
In addition to tutoring, I’ve worked on research projects in astrophysics and laser-plasma physics, which allows me to connect what students see in class to real scientific applications. I’m flexible in my teaching style and always adapt lessons to match each student’s learning needs. My goal is to make learning approachable, engaging, and effective, while helping students build strong foundations for future success.
