Hello, I am Sampadaa! I am an incoming student at Columbia University interested in the intersection between computation and engineering in the growing realm of space exploration. Throughout my entire high school career, I maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA (with mainly AP and college classes) and received a 1520 on my SAT (790 Math, 730 Reading and Writing). Additionally, I have taken and received As in mathematics classes such as AP Statistics (5 on the AP exam) and college Multivariable Calculus (Calculus III). Fun fact: one of my favorite areas of mathematics is trigonometry. As a tutor, I aim to utilize my meaningful academic experiences to instill confidence in coursework and maximize success.
I have one year's experience tutoring college-level computer science (e.g., data structures and polymorphism in C++) to juniors and seniors at my high school. Many students found the courses challenging, especially since they had no/minimal computer science experience. I aimed to help them thrive despite this difficulty. Each week, I created in-depth presentations and organized materials for formal review sessions, which 5-20 students attended. I also held two hour weekly office hours for additional tutoring so students could drop in and get personalized one-on-one assistance, get any topics explained, and address any concerns they had with the material. Here, I also sometimes tutored college-level Calculus I and II to about 5-10 students by holding after-school review sessions in which I helped clarify and explain confusing topics such as series/summation and trigonometric proofs.
I genuinely enjoy helping students feel prepared and excel in challenging classes. Thus, to provide the most beneficial experience, I always welcome parents and the students I help to ask any questions or give any suggestions. Overall, I am skilled in mathematics and computer science, and I aim to help students feel confident in their coursework of the material. Feel free to schedule a lesson or reach out with any questions!
