I am David. I have over twenty years of experience teaching Latin, Italian, and English literature and language at the university level. I graduated summa cum laude in Classics and Italian with minors in history and philosophy from the University of Texas and held a Fulbright Full Grant in Italy before earning my Ph.D. in Italian at Stanford University. I have taught at Yale, Stanford, and Notre Dame and I am currently working as a translator and writer in the greater Houston area.
I started tutoring Latin in college and enjoyed seeing students gain a greater confidence with the language and with English as well.
I taught English as a Second Language in Italy on a one-on-one basis to young adults and business professionals.
I have worked with students in small groups and individually on improving their Italian, Latin, and English writing, as well as studying for tests.
I am currently teaching individual lessons on major authors of western literature, such as Dante, Boccaccio, Petrarch, and Shakespeare.

I hold degrees in Classics and Italian. I have years of experience bringing the language to different levels of students and have advanced training in foreign language pedagogy, ACTFL proficiency testing, and I have a student-oriented approach to language learning.

I have taught English and world literature at the college level for two decades and have taught English as a Foreign Language in Italy for even longer. I am up-to-date on current methodologies and I enjoy helping students gain confidence in speaking, reading, and writing. I have years of experience teaching college-level writing in the humanities.

I am easy to reach and have a flexible schedule. I am happy to tailor lessons to individual student needs.
