I graduated the University with a degree in Elementary Education with a K-8 certification. I taught kinder and 2nd grade but have taught all grade levels to assist with reading in the areas of decoding, fluency, and comprehension, using the Lindamood-Bell Program for 30 years. I also am an Academic Language Therapist certified as a CALT specializing in Alphabetic Phonics which is the older Scottish Rite Program. What does this mean? A CALT is the only person certified by the state to teach a student who has reading difficulties with more than 700 hours of specific upper graduate coursework and supervised practicum. The results with a CALT are much more effective than a "tutor or tutoring company" that does not have a certified Academic Language Therapist on site. I have thousands of hours in teaching students how to read with proven results and references happy to share their success.
I am an Academic Language Therapist specializing in a program that uses handwriting at its foundation. I use the Easing Into Cursive Program and use approach strokes and specific and specialized techniques of verbalizing and visualizing strokes to make handwriting successful.
I have worked with students with dyslexia since 1986.
I have supported thousands of students to increase their ability to become a self-correcting reader. I would recommend investing your time and resources with someone who has proven experience and has certifications in regards to dyslexia and reading difficulties. There are many tutors who might be less expensive but it is not a guarantee they can produce the results desperately needed when one has dyslexia.
I also utilize cutting edge mouth positions to assist your student to be their own judge of the reading process. I have local and nationwide references. I look forward to unlocking the mystery of reading for your student, as well.
