Experienced STEM tutor with focus in Chemistry and Calculus

Hi!

I'm Jonathan, a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. I majored in Chemistry and received my Bachelor of Science in May 2018. During my undergraduate education, I worked extensively in both teaching and research labs. I found that one of the most rewarding things about being in school was studying with other students in order to deepen our overall understanding of the subject matter, whether it be something as basic as calculus or as complex as quantum chemistry.

My primary goal with tutoring is to help students experience the joy of learning through genuine understanding. My experience has taught me that direct memorization of material has a very low ceiling of understanding when compared to thorough comprehension. I strive to give upcoming students a firm foundation for their future studies by teaching them how to properly learn the subject matter instead of giving them simple tricks to score a few points higher on an exam.

My Chemistry background includes courses in General Chemistry 1&2, Organic Chemistry 1&2, Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry 1&2, Analytical Chemistry and Advanced Analytical Chemistry along with all of the lab coursework associated with those classes. I've completed basic math curriculum up to Calculus 1-3 (Differential, Integral, and Multivariable Calculus), an advanced matrices class, as well as General Physics 1&2.
