About Promise

Bio

I have degrees in Mathematics (B.S. Cum Laude) and Physics (B.A. Cum Laude) and I have been tutoring college level and high school math subjects since 2006. I currently tutor all levels of Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus (high school; I and II; AP AB, and AP BC), Multivariable Calculus (i.e. Calculus 3), and Linear Algebra. I have degrees in Mathematics (B.S. Cum Laude) and Physics (B.A. Cum Laude) and I have been tutoring college level and high school math subjects since 2006. I currently tutor all levels of Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus (high school; I and II; AP AB, and AP BC), Multivariable Calculus (i.e. Calculus 3), and Linear Algebra. I also occasionally tutor Ordinary Differential Equations, Probability, and Statistics. I received the Outstanding Service Award as Supplemental Instructor at the University of North Texas in 2007, I won the military's "Who's your Favorite" contest in 2013 with another tutoring service.

I know all the ins and outs of math problems. I love working with people and knowing that I've helped someone achieve real understanding of a subject. Oftentimes, students might struggle with an entire subject because they are missing prerequisite information on only a handful of topics, or even on only one concept; I can help you identity what's causing the problem and how to achieve mastery of that topic as easily and as efficiently as possible. I'll break down any math topic, problem, or solution method into its component parts, explain and describe how each part works, and help you work through examples and guide you step-by-step through the concepts and processes so that at the end of the lesson, you not only have the work completed, but have a solid understanding of the concepts and how to solve problems of this type in the future.

I tutor exclusively online, and my schedule varies from week to week, but I am typically available most weeks M - Sa. My cancellation policy: Any lesson cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled start time, or any lesson in which the student does not arrive in the online lesson space within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, will be assessed a cancellation fee equal to the full amount of the scheduled lesson.

Knowledgeable and Professional

I took multivariable calculus lessons with Promise and she made it really easy to understand. What I love about her sessions is that she explains the concepts really well beyond just plugging in values into a formula. She makes graphs using the Wyzant tools to help me visualize the problem and gives me supplemental images of textbook information. Trust me when I say that there are few tutors like promise.
