I have been in the teaching industry for over fifteen years working in various districts as a Substitute Teacher. I have taught ages five to age eighteen, but recently in the past several years, I have taught mostly Elementary and Middle School students. I do not possess a certification, but I still strive for high academic achievement. I completed my Master's in Education for Curriculum & Instruction from Concordia University.

What I enjoy most about teaching is when I can help a student understand the subject being taught. I enjoy helping students with reading concepts, but I also enjoy helping students with math for EC - 6th grade. I enjoy finding games to make learning easier, and help students see that reading and math can be fun! I like to use graphic organizers, concept maps, writing, and discussions to help students learn material. I find that when students discuss or write about what they are learning, teachers can find their strengths and weaknesses about the given subject.
I have completed graduate classes for reading and vocabulary. I have six credit graduate hours specifically for reading. I have more credit hours geared toward literature for reading and vocabulary. I understand how to help students read using various reading strategies for comparing and contrasting, cause and effect, fact & opinion, inference skills and understanding the author's point-of-view.
What makes me outstanding for Elementary is my completion of my EC - 6th grade classes through the approved teacher alternative program. I have also passed the PPR and my content test. I also have more than fifteen years in working experience in the classroom as a Substitute Teacher.
I personally have a phonics kit at home that I have used to help students. I invested in the kit years ago.
