I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW), a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in English, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a certification in Trauma-Informed Care. During graduate school, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for two years, where I supported students through tutoring, guided discussions, and one-on-one academic assistance. I also have two years of experience as a Registered Behavior Technician, working primarily with students with autism and adapting my teaching style to meet each learner's individual needs.
In addition to my academic experience, I taught swim lessons for over ten years to students ranging from infants to older adults. Teaching individuals of all ages and abilities taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, and building confidence through encouragement. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based—I guide students toward finding answers, developing critical thinking skills, and gaining confidence in their own abilities instead of simply providing solutions.
I also bring a unique perspective to tutoring through my own educational journey. I completed my graduate degree while recovering from a traumatic brain injury, which gave me firsthand experience navigating learning with a disability. Because of this, I understand that every student learns differently and deserves compassion, patience, and practical strategies that work for them. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing new skills, and becoming more confident in their learning.
