Hi! My name is Tarush and I am a recent graduate of Rice University, with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Policy Analysis, and a minor in Politics, Law, and Social Thought. I am also a first year student at Harvard Law School in the process of getting my Juris Doctor (JD). I have been tutoring both officially and unofficially basically my entire life, in everything from 4th grade math all the way to the MCAT and LSAT. I tutored elementary school students with learning disabilities in the classroom and in group settings, and I also have done one on one online/in-person tutoring for standardized exams such as the PSAT, SAT, LSAT, and MCAT, as well as a range of high school and college level subjects such as biology, calculus, and chemistry. I have always tried to be a tutor who is capable of breaking down difficult concepts into easier and digestible chunks, and I have always endeavored to share my own tips and strategies for being successful on tests.
I think the first step in instructing any student is determining what a student doesn't know, or where a student is going wrong. I like to gauge my student's knowledge and performance with a quick diagnostic and then go from there into directly explaining material and correcting mistakes/misconceptions. I always ensure to leave some time at the end of the lesson for some student directed practice, where I can further observe and correct mistakes.
I'm always rooting for my students success and am always open to student or parent suggestions to incorporate into my tutoring sessions. I am very easy to reach and respond pretty fast, so feel free to reach out to me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
