I am a certified English teacher. I have nine years of experience within my current and previous districts in the Houston area. I love working with students and helping them achieve their educational goals. I have primarily worked with high school students. I have taught a wide variety of content and am happy to work with students who would like to succeed in an academic field. I have a variety of teaching experience from teaching Freshmen to teaching Senior students with typical class sizes running from less than 10 students per class to 33 students per class. I am familiar with a variety of online creative and assessment platforms such as Canva, Google Classroom, and Eduphoria. I have taught special populations such as Special Education students and students with 504 accommodations. I have also completed learning checks from Wyzant and attend professional development courses when needed.
I believe in life long learning and encourage my students to do the same. I also have experience proofreading and drafting editing and revising for standardized testing such as the Texas STAAR test. I am typically a quick learner and can pick up on nuanced writing and can point out text that inferences can come from.
I am typically able to respond to questions in a short amount of time. If not the same day, I try to respond within 24 hours. I am available 24 hours a day by email if needed, and if I do not respond that evening I will respond first thing in the morning, Communication is a key to student success.
