I am an experienced elementary educator with 28 years of teaching and intervention experience, specializing in helping children become confident, successful readers. I have worked as a Dyslexia Specialist and RtI Reading Interventionist, supporting elementary students who need extra guidance, encouragement, and personalized instruction to thrive.
I am Science of Reading trained and have completed Reading Academy, Gifted and Talented training, and Handwriting Without Tears. I understand how children learn to read and write, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and written expression, and I use proven, research-based practices to meet students where they are.
Most importantly, I believe children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and loved. I work hard to build trusting relationships so students feel confident taking risks, asking questions, and celebrating their growth. Many of my students come to me feeling frustrated or discouraged about reading, and one of my greatest joys is helping them rediscover confidence and develop a genuine love for books and learning.
I also had the special opportunity to present alongside the Humble ISD Superintendent to Texas Senators, members of the House of Representatives, and other Superintendents at a Texas Commission Committee Meeting, where I spoke about the importance of literacy and strong reading instruction.
I am passionate about partnering with families and helping every child feel proud of their progress while learning to enjoy reading.
