Hello, my name is April A and I have been in education since 2015.
I graduated with my B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Prairie View A&M University in 2015 and accepted my first teaching position as a 2nd grade teacher. I remained in the classroom for the next 8 years, until moving into an instructional coaching position. In the 8 years in the classroom, I taught 2-5th grade with a focus on ELAR/SS. I also tutored students before and after school. While teaching, I organized after school tutoring for my campus' 3rd grade students and established students groups based on their specific needs.
In June 2023 I graduated from Grand Canyon University with my Masters in Educational Administration. I worked closely with my campus administrators to understand the behind the scenes of the schools. After obtaining my master's I was able to become and Instructional Coach and work with teachers in my district to build their capacity, teaching strategies, and relationships with students.
I am a very passionate educator who loves helping students grow in their academic knowledge. I have tutored outside of the classroom with a focus on phonics, reading, writing, and state test preparations for the last six years. Each tutoring session is based on the students needs and tailored to them as individuals.
