Hi! My name is Divyam, and I’m a medical student and Rice University graduate specializing in SAT/ACT preparation, math, and science tutoring.

Hi! My name is Divyam, and I’m a medical student and Rice University graduate specializing in SAT/ACT preparation, math, and science tutoring.

My standardized-testing background includes a 1560 SAT, 35 ACT, and a 520 MCAT. I also recently took the current digital SAT and PSAT to stay familiar with the new exams and earned a perfect score on both. Because I have studied these tests both as a high-scoring student and from the perspective of someone actively trying to improve, I understand how to identify weaknesses, recognize recurring question patterns, and build strategies that translate into higher scores.

At Rice University, I studied Sports Medicine as well as Cell Biology/Biochemistry and Statistics. I have since used that background to tutor students in subjects including AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and Physics.

My approach focuses on understanding why a student is missing questions rather than simply reviewing answers. I work to identify patterns in mistakes, strengthen the underlying concepts, and develop repeatable strategies students can use independently. For standardized tests, I also emphasize efficient problem-solving, recognizing common traps, and learning how to approach different question types.

For MCAT students, my own improvement from a 511 to a 520 gives me firsthand experience with the process of raising a score. I can help students identify weak areas, strengthen their science foundation, improve passage-based reasoning, and create a more effective approach to studying and practice questions.

I also help with college applications, including brainstorming, editing, and refining essays.

I have extensive experience with mathematics through advanced high school and college-level coursework, including Calculus and Statistics at Rice University. I have tutored students in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Calculus, and SAT Math across a range of grade levels. I am comfortable with the full Algebra 2 curriculum, including functions, polynomial and rational expressions, exponential and logarithmic equations, systems of equations, sequences, and introductory trigonometry. My continued quantitative coursework in college has given me a strong foundation in the algebraic concepts that students build upon in higher-level mathematics.

I also earned perfect scores on the current digital PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 8/9. My quantitative background includes advanced mathematics and statistics coursework at Rice University, and I have experience tutoring SAT Math as well as Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. I am highly familiar with the mathematical content, question formats, and skills tested on the current digital SAT.
