I am a high school social studies teacher who specializes in AP Human Geography (100% pass rate), AP Economics (98% pass rate), AP American History (90%+ pass rate), and college essays. My success can be attributed to how much I focus on the curriculum framework provided by College Board and my strong writing instruction. I do not include extraneous information that will not be helpful for the exam.

Over the last 13 years teaching, I have almost always tutored. I have helped a wide range of students prepare for Prep School exams, AP Tests, and their normal school classes.

I am a great tutor because I genuinely care about how my students do. As a teacher, I always put some of the blame on myself when a student is struggling. I don't simply just think, "Oh he doesn't want to/can't learn." If something isn't working, I go try to find a different way to approach it.

I have taught abroad for 9 years among English language learners, so I have significant experience working with English language learners. Spanish is my second language, which I picked up from living seven years in Mexico. As a student of a foreign language (Spanish and Portuguese), I can relate to the struggles of language acquisition.

I hope to help students with their writing as well. Writing has always been a central part of each of my courses. I like helping my students make their essays clearer, more thorough, and more effective. As for college essays, I actually enjoy this format greatly! I wish that more essays were personal. I really like helping students write an interesting hook that will grab the reader's attention to want to learn more about the student. I graduated from Rice University and was admitted to UNC-Chapel Hill and University of Virginia.
