I have been a photographer for over 20 years working in Advertising, Industrial and Commercial photography. I work in digital now, however I began my career in film. I have experience in the darkroom processing black and white film and printing black and white enlargements. One of my specialties is studio still-life, which makes up the majority of my advertising assignments. Many of my Industrial assignments are shot in natural light conditions, I feel equally confident in both situations. I'm experienced with all camera formats, including 4 x 5 view cameras. I have received recognition and awards from the Houston Advertising Federation and Art Directors Club of Houston.
After reaching a point in my career I started thinking about passing on the knowledge to others, however I was always too busy to try to take on a formal teaching position. I studied Art and History in college and did not have a background in photography, however I wanted to be in a creative field. I met a photographer who open the door to a world I did not know existed. I became a photographer by assisting other commercial photographers for two years, before accepting my own assignments. I have always tried to use assistants when I can on photo shoots. I like the opportunity to use an assistant to bring someone in, not just to run errands or to pick up lunch. I enjoy explaining to them exactly what's going with the project that we are shooting. This has always giving me good feeling accomplishment.
